Modern Western Twist
Welcome, everyone! I am excited to start my first blog and share my ideas with others. First off, I want to say that with this blog, I'm using it to show ideas of what I think looks good together, not necessarily what is affordable. I will also show ideas that are cost friendly.
How does one even start a blog post? I guess I'll start with an introduction. I'm Meredith and I like to have fun. I don't take life too seriously and I like to play around with different ideas. I was the type of little girl who would raid my mother's closet, put on her high heel shoes, bury my neck in pearls, and have lipstick around my lips in the shape of a race track (ironically, without it actually being on my lips). As I've grown up, I would like to think that my fashion taste has evolved and that I can manage to put lipstick on my lips.
I have recently lost around 30 lbs and am able to wear a size XL for the first time since I was 12 years old (I'm almost 21 now). It has made me feel more passionate about life and more comfortable about wearing flattering clothes. Over the past few years, I have really started to grasp the concept of having a personal sense of style. With mixing these two events together, it has created a burst of passion towards fashion.
I may not always please people's own ideas of what is fashionable, but I hope I can get people to start exploring their own sense of style. I also want people to have fun with fashion and to not be afraid to try different ideas.
I want to start with one of the outfits I pieced together on www.polyvore.com . I have recently became intrigued with the idea of a modern western look. In this outfit, I have pieced together leather with red designs and denim. I love the shape of the tank since it has ruffles that give this a girly, modern look. I also added the tote bag to add a bit of personality and quirkiness to make this outfit stand out- in a good way. I pieced the black leather items together to add a bit of a feminine, hard contrast. I also wanted to combine two different washes of denim to provide more depth, texture, and personality. I love this idea for a fall night or even for the summer (although I would not be wearing a denim jacket during that time of the year- it's too hot in Iowa!). This a great outfit for any young woman with nearly any body shape.
Go ahead, be a cowgirl and be your own hero. Who needs a cowboy when being a cowgirl is this much fun?
